Unlimited Hydroplane Restoration Project
The gift that keeps on giving...
I apologize for the late update this week, but I've been waiting for everything concerning it to be firmed up..............which it has.
Thanks to Dave Bartush in Detroit (Michigan), we have obtained the final key pieces towards our restoration project.
We have purchased both original Norberg "cathedral" wing vertical stabilizers, as well as a Fairlane "Merlin" style gear box case. The team has all the internal components for the gearbox, but we were short on the case itself.
We will try to reuse the skins from the Z-9 set, which we believe came from the U-77 "Spirit of the Air Force" version. However, both internal frames are original and we will clean them up to be used once again.
We have made another giant leap forward gang.
A very special thanks goes out to Warner Costin (Hilliard, Ohio), who made the long journey from Ohio to Michigan just to pick these parts up for us. Without his help on this, we may have never had the opportunity to get them. Warner previously did this very thing years ago for us with the drivers cowling...............and we are extremely grateful for his continued assistance and generosity.
Note: ALL photos below are were taken and are the property of Warner Costin.
