1979 Squire Shop
Unlimited Hydroplane Restoration Project
Update #15 (February 8, 2017)
Cowlings, engine stringers, and packing boxes........oh my?
The progress may appear to be going a little slow this month, but that doesn't mean were not accomplishing a lot behind the scenes. As you can see, the team has cutout the two engine stringers.........and they look great!
The vertical stabilizer plug is moving along nicely, we should be adding a fiberglass skin soon enough. The museum even acquired the original 1979 Circus Circus packing box molds awhile back, so that will save a lot of time.
The infamous engine cowling we recovered from Lake Washington with Chip Hanauer a couple years ago is getting ready to be repaired. Brad Haskin and crew have removed the metal hardware (what was left of it), the gold pin-striping (paint scheme trim), and the rubber components. Brad's initial evaluation of the cowling is very good................we think we can reuse it back onto the boat.
Progress is slow right now, but we'll be speeding up before you know it!
Be sure to check out the videos below as well, you will feel like you were there.
