Brad Haskin is in the final stages of the drivers cowling rebirth, as his hard work is starting to shine through..........amazing!
As the "Circus Circus" cowling is getting to close to have a new mold reproduced for the Squire Shop, the team can't imagine where this project would be without Brad's incredible talents and craftsmanship he brings to the project!
The rest of the team is chugging away as usual, and they are getting closer and closer to putting the aluminum skins on the non-trip sections. The skid fin bracket assembly is going well, as are the sponson details.
Good work gang!
Here is a quick comparison to the original Squire Shop cowling as built, as obtained from Dave Bartush a few years ago, the rebuild process, up to as it looks today.........awesome!
Every now and then you come across stuff on Ebay that just screams "buy me"! This item that I purchased for the Hydroplane & Raceboat Museum definitely fits the bill.
You are looking at a super rare "official" Western Gear hydroplane gearbox service manual for the very gearbox we use on the Squire Shop V-12 Rolls Royce "Merlin" engine. As soon as I saw it, I snatched it up. Early indicators imply this likely originated from the Slo-Mo-Shun V team sometime back in the 50's.
An amazing find and acquisition no doubt, and it's something we can still use to this day.
PS: I'll have the next restoration posted by the end of the weekend, stay tuned...
